PARAEDUCATORS/TUTORS AND HEALTH AIDES GO TEAMSTERS!

Around 200 employees of the Marshalltown Community School District voted overwhelmingly by a 4 to 1 margin to be represented by Teamsters Local 238.   Paraeducators, tutors and health aides started organizing in February and voted to join other employees in the school district who are already Teamster members.  Ballots were counted on June 15th.

Local 238 Secretary-Treasurer Gary Dunham said this campaign is the first of many to come to give school district employees across Iowa a voice in working standards.  “These employees provide a vital service to our community and children and deserve to have a voice on the job” Dunham said.

Teamsters Local 238 is moving forward with other school district organizing campaigns and plans on filling a series of elections in the coming weeks.
