Private Sector
Local 238 freight members, warehouse employees, UPS drivers and sorters, manufacturing employees, food production workers and thousands of other Iowans work every day to make, package, sort and ship goods across the state and nation.  Local 238 members make Tones Spices, Oral B toothbrushes, auto parts, and work in plants that make precision metal parts which are shipped across the country.  Our members load and drive the trucks that deliver to Iowa based Hy-Vee grocery stores.  When our members sit down to relax on their days off they can drink beer or soda bottled and shipped by Local 238 members.  The hard working membership of Local 238 is diverse and spread across the state and play an instrumental role in keeping Iowa's economy alive and workers' standards high by fighting for the best union contracts in Iowa.

Public Sector
Local 238's public sector members are on the job day and night to make sure Iowans are protected and have access to the services the public relies on.  County roads are graded and plowed by Local 238 members, our children are taught, tutored and fed by Teamster Local 238 members in our public schools.  Court House clerks, maintenance workers and janitors are members of Local 238.  In some towns and cities Local 238 members set our street lights, repair our streets, pick up our trash and keep our parks clean and safe.  Local 238's public sector members are among the hundreds of thousands of other Teamster public sector members across the nation.

Teamsters Protect and Serve
Members of Local 238 also put their lives on the line every day.  Teamsters Local 238 is the largest union of law enforcement in the state of Iowa.  Police officers and deputy sheriffs across the state have chosen Teamsters Local 238 as their first line of defense when it comes to their jobs.  Through the Teamsters Law Enforcement League, Teamster law enforcement members can get civil and criminal legal protection from the Teamsters Legal Defense Program.
